Breed ranges are a guide, not a target: a healthy body shape matters more than the number on the scale. Last reviewed October 9, 2026.

How big do Scottish Folds get?

Breed registries and vet sources don't agree exactly, so here is what each one says about adult weight:

SourceMalesFemales
TICA7–10 lb (all adults)7–10 lb (all adults)
VCA6–13 lb (all adults)6–13 lb (all adults)
Purina9–13 lb6–9 lb

Based on these figures, the size checker uses 7–13 lb (3.2–5.9 kg) for males and 6–10 lb (2.7–4.5 kg) for females. Ranges a source gives for all adults are shown for reference.

When do Scottish Folds stop growing?

Breed registries don't give a separate age for Scottish Folds. Like most cats, they are usually close to adult size at about 12 months, and some keep filling out a little after that.

There is no published month-by-month growth chart for Scottish Fold kittens from a breed registry or vet source, so we don't print one. For the first months, compare your kitten with the kitten growth chart, and use the kitten feeding chart to see how much to feed.

Scottish Fold size facts

  • TICA describes a sturdy, medium-sized body covered with padding that gives it a solid feel. CFA notes that females may be slightly smaller.
  • International Cat Care explains that the gene mutation that folds the ears affects cartilage development, and also causes severe abnormalities of the cartilage of bones (osteochondrodysplasia), leading to painful joint disease.
