Persian size
The Persian is a medium-sized cat that looks bigger because of its coat. Males usually weigh 9–14 lb (4.1–6.4 kg) and females 7–11 lb (3.2–5 kg). Enter your cat's weight to see how it compares.

You'll see where your cat sits in the usual Persian range.
Breed ranges are a guide, not a target: a healthy body shape matters more than the number on the scale. Last reviewed October 9, 2026.
How big do Persians get?
Breed registries and vet sources don't agree exactly, so here is what each one says about adult weight:
Based on these figures, the size checker uses 9–14 lb (4.1–6.4 kg) for males and 7–11 lb (3.2–5 kg) for females. Ranges a source gives for all adults are shown for reference.
When do Persians stop growing?
Breed registries don't give a separate age for Persians. Like most cats, they are usually close to adult size at about 12 months, and some keep filling out a little after that.
There is no published month-by-month growth chart for Persian kittens from a breed registry or vet source, so we don't print one. For the first months, compare your kitten with the kitten growth chart, and use the kitten feeding chart to see how much to feed.
Persian size facts
- TICA says Persians are medium sized but appear larger than they really are because of their long fur, and that males are larger than females.
